MUNCIE, Ind. – First Merchants Corporation (NASDAQ - FRME) announces Jadira Hoptry as its new director of community lending and development. Hoptry will manage all community lenders throughout First Merchants Bank, while focusing on consumer lending and support of low- to moderate-income and other underserved communities.

In a current text scam, fraudsters send text messages or make phone calls to customers claiming to be from First Merchants. Fraudsters may try to create panic by claiming to alert customers to fraudulent activity.

McKee, an industry veteran with more than 30 years’ experience, will lead and implement efforts around community relations, volunteerism, philanthropy, financial education and community reinvestment activities.
