While the holidays are a time of joy and hope, they can also bring unwanted stress to families who are going through financial hardship. To help ease their worries, First Merchants Bank is proud to commit $15,000 to the Avondale Meadows YMCA for financial education and wellness initiatives.

“I take pride in assisting with building wealth in the community,” said Iesha Vaugh, Avondale Banking Center Manager. “We should always come together and help those who need it. I am ecstatic to partner with the YMCA and look forward to our growing relationship.”

This year-round partnership will extend beyond the holiday season and is part of First Merchant Bank’s continuing efforts to serve low- and moderate-income communities through financial services and financial wellness initiatives. In the past, many of these communities' banking needs have been underserved, and First Merchants is dedicated to bridging that gap – all driven by our “helping you prosper” service philosophy.

This donation supports financial education programs, which will equip community members with the tools and skills they need to create a solid financial foundation on which to build their future.

And, in honor of the season, First Merchants is also proud to serve as a sponsor for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis’s annual Toy Drive, which each year strives to provide holiday gifts for children in need.

“I’m proud First Merchants continues to partner with organizations that support our communities – especially as we enter the holiday season,” said Jadira Hoptry, Director of Community Lending and Development with First Merchants Bank. “Helping increase access to banking services and financial education that builds security for families is our top priority at First Merchants Bank, and I’m thrilled we’re deepening our partnership with the Avondale Meadows YMCA in support of this goal.”

We look forward to expanding our partnership with the Avondale YMCA, the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, and other non-profits in our service areas as we all work together to help our communities prosper.
