Veteran Apprenticeship
Recently Returned military members or veterans often face unique challenges as they return to civilian life – that’s why we created the First Merchants Veteran Apprenticeship Program.
In this 12-month paid program, veterans and service men and women can experience the many careers available in banking while leveraging their unique skills for leadership opportunities and getting the support they need as they transition to a new chapter in life.
First Merchants offers a paid apprenticeship with the mission to provide a smoother transition to a civilian career in banking. The program is designed to provide training in the foundations of banking and specific on-the-job practice.
Who is eligible for the Veteran Apprenticeship Program?
- Military members who are not currently on active duty.
- Military members who are on traditional guard or reserve status.
- Veterans of any rank or branch of the U.S. Military.
- Former military members who received an honorable or medical discharge.
What does the Veteran Apprenticeship Program include?
- A 12-month paid position beginning with a comprehensive training experience to develop knowledge of financial products and develop a banking skillset.
- On-the-job experience within our bank.
- A partnership and job-shadowing experience with an existing FMB employee.
- A mentor who capitalizes on their veteran experience to help you.
