Planned System Maintenance: What to Expect



We’re completing planned system maintenance on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 as part of internal system updates as we take the final step in our merger and welcome  First Savings Bank customers to First Merchants. During this time, some banking services may be temporarily limited.


How This May Affect Your Banking

On May 16, you may notice limited access to some services. Here’s what you should know:

  • ATM Services
    • Balance inquiries and account transfers may be unavailable
  • Mobile, Online & Telephone Banking
    • Access may be limited
  • Debit Card Transactions
    • Some merchants may place a temporary hold on funds equal to your purchase amount before the transaction is fully completed. These holds may reduce your available balance until the transaction finalizes.
  • Customer Service
    • Our customer service team will be available. However, representatives may have limited access to account details and may not be able to complete all requests until systems are fully restored.

Please note: Transactions that post after systems come back online may affect your available balance.


How to Prepare Before Saturday, May 16

A little planning can help avoid surprises. We recommend:

  • Checking your available balance in advance
  • Completing transfers or payments ahead of time
  • Talking with a banker about Overdraft Protection options, if needed
  • Using a credit card for travel, fuel purchases, hotel stays, or reservations
  • Planning ahead for scheduled payments or large purchases

What to Expect During the Maintenance Window

While systems are temporarily limited:

  • Keep track of your spending manually
  • Allow extra time for transactions to post once services are restored

After Maintenance Is Complete

  • All systems will restore automatically
  • Any delayed transactions will post as services return to normal
  • Full access to all banking services will resume
  • You will now have access to 14 new First Merchants branches with local bankers in Southern Indiana
