FMB named one of the Best Employers in the State of Ohio!

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Eight First Merchants Bank branches in Ohio were recently named as one of the Best Employers in the state of Ohio for 2016! This is their fifth year receiving a Best Employer award! The annual list of the Best Employers in Ohio was created by the Ohio SHRM State Council and Best Companies Group.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Employers in Ohio. The criteria include workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics as well as an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The 2016 Best Employers in Ohio list is comprised of 39 companies.

Recognized as 24th in the Large Employer category, First Merchants Bank was featured in a Best Employer in the state of Ohio magazine put together by Best Companies Group. They quoted, “Realizing that business begins and ends with people, First Merchants Bank offers personal banking, business banking, mortgage lending, cash management services and wealth management in an environment where customers can bank with their neighbors. Employees are granted one community day a year to participate in a company-organized outreach program, such as Mid-Ohio Foodbank, Dentistry from the Heart or Central Ohio Diabetes Association. The bank also proudly supports the Salvation Army by allotting time, talent and treasure to the organization. The bank has begun a partnership with Cristo Rey Columbus High School, a private college preparatory school, through a work-study program. In addition to education, the partnership provides students with real work experience. A very special part of giving back to the community includes the annual race and walk honoring colleague Pam Miller’s son Kyle, who passed away in a kayaking accident in 2013. The First Merchants family comes together annually to volunteer and participate in the event.”
