Kokomo employees decorate tree for charity

November 15, 2013

KOKOMO, Ind. - Employees from First Merchants' Kokomo banking center have decorated a holiday tree to be displayed and auctioned off for charity, as part of the 21st annual We Care Trim-A-Tree Festival.

According to their website, We Care is "an all volunteer organization with 100% of all funds raised disbursed to selected local organizations that provide assistance to the disadvantaged and less fortunate as well as the mentally and physically challenged within our community."

The decorated trees will be on display at the Kokomo Town Center Mall until Sunday, November 17, and visitors may vote for the tree they think should win the people’s choice award. Viewing hours: Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday from noon-8 p.m. The trees will be auctioned off on Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. on the west side of the mall.

Last year's festival raised more than $53,000 for the We Care organization. All proceeds from this year's auction and tree voting will go to local charities.

The We Care Store is also accepting food donations for the Buddy Bags program, which provides weekend meals for local school-aged children. Learn more about the food drive here.
