First Merchants Celebrates Grand Reopening of Shelbyville Banking Center

January 25, 2013

SHELBYVILLE, Ind.-First Merchants Bank welcomed customers, guests and the community during the Shelbyville Banking Center grand reopening event on Thursday, January 17. In celebration of the newly remodeled building, located at 29 East Washington Street, a day of fun and celebration was capped off by commentary by Tom DeBaun, Shelbyville Mayor; First Merchants Corporation Chief Executive Officer Michael C. Rechin; and Larry Lux, Market President.

Mayor DeBaun stated, “Shelby County Bank was a long-standing fixture in our community. When the acquisition of SCB by First Merchants Bank was announced, FMB leadership assured us that they would continue the tradition of partnership within our community. The building used to be an eyesore, and now with the improvements, is remarkable. It revitalizes our downtown.”

Michael C. Rechin commented, “As a community bank, the health and well-being of our communities is foundational to business success. First Merchants Bank proudly invests in revitalization efforts throughout Indiana, and Shelbyville is a shining example of the benefit community investment brings. Mayor DeBaun shared with me earlier today that there has not been an investment comparable to the FMB renovation in recent history. We are proud to support Shelbyville and Shelby County, serving as a growth leader in this market. Larry Lux and the entire Shelbyville Banking Center team are focused on providing community banking service that is legacy to First Merchants Bank.”
