First Merchants Bank Acquires Loans and Assumes Deposits of Shelby County Bank

MUNCIE, Ind. - First Merchants Corporation (NASDAQ – FRME) reported an agreement between First Merchants Bank and the FDIC to purchase approximately $117 million of loans and assume $136 million of deposits from the Shelby County Bank. Rechin adds, “Customer deposits will continue to be insured by the FDIC. Access to funds by writing checks, using ATM or debit cards has not changed. It’s business as usual. Loan terms have not changed, and as such, payments can continue to be made as you have in the past. In addition, customers may continue to use their existing branches.
