FMB Supports ALS Awareness with Ice Cream Bash

August 29, 2011

WABASH, Ind. - On August 19 and 20, First Merchants employees teamed up with the Charley Creek Inn to hand out free ice cream to support the 12th Anniversary Dave Kunkel Cruise-In at the Honeywell Center in downtown Wabash, IN.

The Dave Kunkel Cruise-In is an annual car show that raises awareness and funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. The car show was started by Dan Harvey and Sandy Kunkel in honor of Dave Kunkel, Dan’s close friend and Sandy’s husband. Dave Kunkel, a former Senior Vice President of Manufacturing for the Ford Meter Box Company and car enthusiast, died of ALS.

First Merchants continues to support the Dave Kunkel Cruise-In and its efforts to raise awareness and money for ALS in the Wabash area. For more information about the Dave Kunkel Cruise-In, visit
