WASHINGTON, D.C. - On November 5, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) issued a warning regarding a ficticious correspondence. The communication is being delivered by e-mail, fax and physical letters. It presents itself as issued by the OCC claiming that the OCC is involved in holding funds for the benefit of the person receiving the communication. It is false. The OCC does not participate in the transfer of funds for, or on behalf of, individuals, business enterprises, or governmental entities.

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Ind. - Local music group Walker County held a CD release party at the First Merchants parking lot in Sulphur Springs on October 20. Approximately 100 people attended the CD release party. Walker County performed for attendees and had a meet-and-greet session at the celebration.
DECATUR, Ind. – On Tuesday, October 16, volunteers from First Merchants Bank in Decatur participated in the annual United Way Community Market Day at a local grocery store. Volunteers bagged groceries, helped customers to their cars, retrieved carts, and collected receipts and donations to the United Way. First Merchants’ volunteers donated one hour per person.

MUNCIE, Ind. – On September 27, First Merchants employees partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana for a day of giving and service. The 50 First Merchants volunteers helped distribute food at Second Harvest’s Tailgate, bagged and sorted food, and cleaned the cooler, freezer and other areas in the warehouse.
