
Even during tough economic times, Lafayette Bank and Trust team members displayed their generosity, raising $68,297.84 for the United Way, an 18 percent increase from the 2008 campaign! Total county employee gifts: Carroll $336.00; Clinton $936; White $1,417; Tippecanoe $25,173.10.
In Tippecanoe County we gave $19,987.38 last year, an increase of over 25 percent this year! Also, in Tippecanoe County we had 106 employee pledges compared to 73 last year, over a 45 percent increase. White and Carroll Counties each had 100 percent employee participation. In addition to the employee campaigns, the Bank raised $4,125.74 from special events and gave a $36,000 corporate gift.
Thank you to all of the bank employees who enthusiastically helped us meet our goals! Sophie Jakovljevic, Sara Mummey, Tracey Linder, Candy Shumard, Sherry Keith, David Sharp, Debra Steinnhaurer, Debra Mikels, Cindy Guy, Shelly Turnpaugh and Debbie Graves all held leadership roles during our campaign. To help raise funds, bank personnel participated in several activities and events, including the U-BBQ, Penny Wars, Jeans Day, Legs Contest, Carnation Sales and Pumpkin Decorating Contests. Additionally, LBT Staff were actively involved in a couple of "Week of Caring" projects.
Leadership is second nature for Tony Albrecht, Regional President, Lafayette Bank and Trust, where he has worked 11 years. A 44-year Lafayette resident, Albrecht holds a bachelor's degree in management with an accounting concentration from Purdue University. "This is a very generous community, with friendly people who work and collaborate to make Greater Lafayette a place of choice, " he says. As a Chamber of Commerce Council Chair, he says, "My primary goal will be to work with our council to execute the strategic plan we have just completed." Tony is also the United Way Campaign Chair for the entire Tippecanoe County United Way. He knows the need is great and is honored to help raise funds for the 23 humanitarian organizations that help make our community a great place to live.
Lafayette Bank and Trust continues our commitment to the community with a $10,000 contribution to the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette. The $10,000 will be paid over a 5 year period beginning in 2010. In celebration of 100 years, the Art Museum like Lafayette Bank and Trust has been a part of our community for many generations.
LBT is providing Financial Literacy Project materials entitled "Your Checking Account" to Klondike Middle School class grade 7 Math teacher JoAnn Ward. "All About Banking" materials to Mrs. Tilley's class at Mintonye Elementary School and Mr. Joe Fife's class at Edgelea Elementary School.
Congratulations Candy Shumard, Vice President and Manager of Loan and Deposit Operations recently named to the Wea Summer Recration Board. And, Stacy Uitts named to Clinton County United Way Campaign Cabinet.
Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Sherri Beabout, Lafayette Bank and Trust Investment Consultant was recently elected Treasurer for a one year term. Sherri helps the Lafayette Kiwanis Club reach out to the community in many ways. The Youth Services Committee contributes to some twenty local agencies that serve youth. Also, the Terrific Kid Program and the B.U.G. program that encourage good citizenship along with academic achievement are facilitated by the local Kiwanis.
