Commercial Underwriter - Columbus OH, Commerce National Bank

Job Description:  Appropriately and thoroughly assessing credit risk through underwriting, managing, and servicing an existing commercial portfolio, as well as for some prospective clients. 1.Proactively manage existing portfolio, including identification of trends, weaknesses, and alerting management to deteriorating conditions, covenant violations, etc. 2. Identify credit transactions requiring renewal, including: Determine information needs to re-underwrite the credit; Regularly keep Relationship Manager apprised of the same, resulting in a complete underwriting package and approval 10 days before maturity. 3. Develop thorough and supported credit analysis and recommendations with support from RM III’s, Senior Commercial Underwriters and Chief Credit Officer as appropriate. 4. Recommend appropriate standard credit structures and risk ratings. 5.Occasional interaction with customers during due diligence and ongoing development of credit and financial history. 6.Occasional participation in customer meetings to discuss alternative credit structures and clarification of financial statement preparation. 7.Coordinate and report all underwriting activities to team members on a regular basis.

Position Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance and/or Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Over three (3) through five(5) years credit and/or lending experience.
